Drought

Phoenix Dust Storm - 'Haboob'

Thirty six states currently face a water shortage.  Among the hardest hit is Texas  where 81% of the state is in 'exceptional'  drought and wildfires have consumed 3.6 million acres.

Demand for fresh water doubles every 21 years.
California has 20 years of water left but New Mexico only has 10.

Lake Mead serves Las Vegas and is down 50%.  It is estimated to go dry by 2021.

Ogallala Aquifer runs from South Dakota to Texas.  It is draining out at 800 gallons per minute and has no future at all.

Lake Lanier serves Atlanta but the city has few rights to the water.

* THE US WEST IS THE DRIEST IN 500 YEARS!  *

China and India have the most contaminated water in the world at 80% and 75% respectively.  That's idiotic and so are we for buying billions of dollars of  toxic crap from China every year.
A desert the size of Rhode Island forms in China every year.

Saudia Arabia is giving up on growing wheat and are starting to import.

Mexico is of urgent concern.  It has mismanaged its water for so long that it is now in chronic shortage.  Mexico City, once a lake, is turning into desert.
What happens when not hundreds but millions of Mexicans begin to stream across the US border hell bent in search of food and water?

Conclusion:
Diligent focused effort and creative ideas are urgently needed to avoid water shortage and war.   We can and must focus on technology to clean water quickly and economically.

 Drought is hateful.
